Andrew Brough is Managing Director at Brough Partners. Here he tells us what makes the business different and why culture and investment in staff development plays a central part of who they are.

Can you tell us a bit about your role and responsibilities at Brough Partners?
As Managing Director and Costs Lawyer at Brough Partners, my role is certainly varied. As well as supporting a range of costs law cases in Court of Protection (COP), Inter Partes and Legal Aid, I also have responsibility for business operations including client liaison, file allocation and progress to completion to financial matters and staff training.

What is the best thing about your job and being part of the Brough Partners team?
Quite separately from currently being the sole Director of the business, my position is that of being a member of the team – working together, exchanging ideas, supporting others and their ambitions. A large part of our brand and culture is also about personal development and training and helping our people achieve their goals and be the best they can be. Alongside working with such a great team, it’s also been a pleasure supporting and working in partnership with our fantastic solicitor clients.

Tell us what it is that makes Brough Partners different to other costs law firms?
At Brough Partners we pride ourselves on being very client oriented and approachable. We make ourselves available for ‘ad hoc’ advice at any stage of costs enquiries should a client require such. We also keep focused on what matters (results for our clients) and have a great work culture.

If you had 3 words to describe Brough Partners, what would they be?

In another life, if you were not working in costs law, what other profession would you have had?

What is the best bit of business advice you have ever been given?
Build a sound foundation and grow slowly and carefully.

Tell us one interesting fact that people might not know about you.
You can perform and live life with only one functioning kidney.

When you are not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
Running, fell walking or gym workouts.

Finally, who inspires you and why?
